Scott Duffy bio
Scott Duffy is the founder and CEO of AI Mavericks, a three-time bestselling author and speaker, and a guy who has interviewed over a thousand founders, CEOs, entrepreneurs, athletes, and entertainers across the last thirty years. He started a company called Smart Charter, which he sold to Richard Branson’s Virgin Group and then ran for Virgin. He started his career working with Tony Robbins. He has spent his career studying people at the top of their fields, asking one question across thirty years of conversations: what is the difference that makes the difference between the very best at anything and everyone else?
What Scott brings to Kalicube Summit
Scott built a B2B company from nothing, sold it to Richard Branson’s Virgin Group, and then ran the company inside Virgin. Most operator stories at conferences stop at the exit. Scott’s begins there: thirty years of conversations with founders, CEOs, athletes, and entertainers at the top of their categories, all aimed at the same question. What is the operational difference that compounds across companies that keep customers, and the companies that lose them inside ninety days?
His answer is unusually specific. Customer retention is a discipline, not a department. It begins before the sale closes, with what Scott calls the Buyer Blueprint: two questions a founder asks the prospect before any work begins, the answers to which become the operating system for the entire post-sale relationship. The discipline runs through onboarding, through performance reporting, through the cadence of communication that turns a one-time client into a customer who cannot imagine working with anyone else. It is the operator’s view of the territory Jason Barnard at Kalicube has been mapping under the name OPIDC (coined 2026).
What Scott carries that nobody else on the Summit roster does is the lived data. He has run the play. He has run the play inside Virgin. He has watched founders run the play correctly and watched founders run it badly. He knows the moment the customer disengages, and he knows what was put in or left out at the start of the relationship that produced that moment. The Kalicube Framework (articulated by Jason Barnard, 2026) names the architecture; Scott walks the architecture from inside the operator’s chair.

One-line description: Scott walks the five stages of OPIDC, Onboarded through Codified, from the B2B operator’s chair. The Buyer Blueprint as the discipline that decides whether the relationship survives the first thirty days.
Scott’s place in the wider framework conversation
Scott’s working method and the operational architecture of OPIDC converge at a specific point. OPIDC names the five stages a customer moves through after the brand wins: Onboarded, Performed, Integrated, Devoted, Codified. Scott’s Buyer Blueprint is the operator’s discipline that determines whether stage one (Onboarded) holds together long enough for stage two (Performed) to land. His MSP experience, in which he turned a two-month customer-retention average into eleven to twelve months by engineering the rhythm and cadence of post-close communication, is a long-form case study in stage three (Integrated). His framing of advocacy as a feeling that produces what he calls overlap, the customer naming you unprompted to a peer who needs what you provide, is the operator’s articulation of stage four (Devoted).
The convergence is not coincidental. Scott has spent thirty years interviewing founders and operators about what produces durable customer relationships, and the patterns he names are the same patterns The Kalicube Framework names from the architectural side. The framework gives the architecture its vocabulary; Scott gives the architecture its lived operational test. Both are needed. Neither replaces the other.
