Teodora Petkova Knowledge Steward, Graphwise

Speaker bio

Teodora is a philologist fascinated by the metamorphoses of text on the Web, curious about the unfolding of the Semantic Web, and deeply interested in how meaning emerges, flows, and connects people, knowledge, and technology.

Her work is grounded in the belief that content is not simply produced — it emerges from knowledge, relationships, and shared meaning. When organizations clarify how ideas connect, communication becomes more coherent, adaptable, and sustainable over time.

Her academic background is in Classical Studies and Creative Writing, and she holds a PhD in Marketing Communication from Sofia University. She is also the author of The Brave New Text and Being Dialogic.

With more than fifteen years of experience in content writing, digital marketing, and knowledge-related work, Teodora has worked across freelance, agency, and corporate environments, gradually moving toward the intersection of marketing communication and semantic technologies.

Today, she works as a Knowledge Steward at Graphwise, building bridges between marketing communication, content operations, and semantic technologies, and supporting the creation of structured, reusable knowledge assets. She also serves as an affiliated lecturer in the Master’s program in Content Strategy at FH JOANNEUM.

What Teodora brings to Kalicube Summit 2026

Teodora Petkova brings the semantic web tradition and philological depth to the question of how machines make meaning. Her work at the intersection of classical studies, digital communication, and semantic technologies gives her a unique vantage on the Annotation gate: the philosophical lineage underneath how AI engines understand content, not just the technical mechanism.

At Kalicube Summit 2026, Teodora covers semantic annotation as meaning-making — the ontology theory and foundational work by Atanas Kiryakov at Graphwise, and her coined concept of “semantic capital” (the accumulated meaning infrastructure an organisation builds through structured, machine-readable content). Her session is the deepest intellectual register the summit offers on the Annotation gate.

Teodora’s PhD in Marketing Communication from Sofia University, combined with her grounding in Classical Studies and her current work at Graphwise building semantic knowledge assets, positions her at the precise intersection where the philosophical foundations of how machines understand meaning meet the practical implications for how brands communicate in the AI era.

Teodora’s session at the Summit

Session 1.14 Teodora Petkova on Meaning-Making, Non-Commodity Content, and the Living Knowledge Ecosystem Day 1, June 24, 2026 Framework concept: Semantic Annotation at the Annotated gate (Gate 6 of the AI Engine Pipeline), the semantic web and ontology tradition that underpins machine-readable meaning. SEL Article: How AI decides what your content means and why it gets you wrong, Article 8 of Jason Barnard at Kalicube’s Search Engine Land series. Read the preview | Watch the session

One-line description: Teodora brings the semantic web and ontology vantage to annotation, naming what it means for a machine to understand rather than match, and why the philosophical tradition behind Gate 6 changes how practitioners should think about structured meaning.

Teodora’s place in the wider framework conversation

Teodora Petkova’s concept of “semantic capital” and her work on structured, reusable knowledge assets at Graphwise independently document the meaning-infrastructure dimension that the Annotation gate depends on. The framework names what happens at the gate; Teodora names why the depth of semantic investment determines how well the annotation mechanism can work. Her session makes the philosophical foundations explicit in a way that makes every other Annotation session land with more clarity.
